MATT EAVES


Matts Natural Flood Management expertise began in the North East, specialising in using traditional skills in a modern context whilst training the next generation of Countryside Managers. Specifically, weaving living willow structures to hold high flows, creating wet woodlands and increasing channel roughness. His innovative and creative approaches get the very best outcomes from available topography natural materials and budget.

Matt has developed a portfolio of unique, low impact, low carbon techniques to create robust and effective structures to intercept high flows.


Matt is highly skilled,qualified and experienced in a variety of specialist groundwork and river contracting techniques that make him ideally suited to the development and delivery River Restoration and Natural Flood Management programmes. Recent clients have included The Environment Agency, West Cumbria Rivers Trust, National Trust, Lune Rivers Trust, Yorkshire Dales National Park and Lake District National Park.

He has been working in the countryside and habitat management sector for eleven years, with six years having been spent training apprentices for National Parks across the North of England. These schemes won national recognition for the level of training delivered.

Outside of work Matt is part of the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team and an accomplished outdoor sports enthusiast.
